Our 30th Anniversary

2012 is a particularly special year for the Earth Trust as we celebrate our 30th anniversary.

From June 2012 to June 2013 we'll be celebrating the Oxfordshire countryside and our stunning green spaces available for everyone to enjoy. We have a great idea to encourage everyone to get outdoors and explore!

The Bench with Legs- On the Move!

To celebrate our 30th Anniversary we commissioned a special bench. Over the next year the bench will be moving around our sites - why not come and try to find it? The bench has just moved to its fifth location, where it has been discovered by intrepid canine explorer, Rufus.

To find out where is is, check out our Twitter page and see Rufus with the bench!

Once you've found the bench we'd love to see photographs of you having a picnic or a well earned rest! Send your photos to web@earthtrust.org.uk

Exciting Plans!

Over the next 30 years we want to continue to look after the places we manage, enable more people to engage with nature and together make a difference to our environment.

In recognition of our 30th year we're launching an appeal to support three exciting projects which are at the heart of our work. Over the next year we need to raise £30,000 to get them off to a flying start.

River of Life

The River of Life will transform arable fields into a truly wild, beautiful landscape along more than a mile of the River Thames. We will restore ancient riverine channels, wet woodland, reedbeds, ponds and scrapes, saving wetland wildlife and improving water quality.

This is an exciting, huge scale project that will cost more than £1 million over the next three years. Funding from our 30th Anniversary Appeal will be used to provide part of the matched funding to support our application to the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Food and Farming

Earth Trust encourages and supports the production, distribution and eating of good quality, local, healthy food. Land management, skills and means needed to produce and distribute food locally, minimising transport and waste are all important ingredients. Farm Step is an innovative Earth Trust project, providing land at Little Wittenham for new farming businesses.

The 30th Anniversary Appeal will allow us to develop Community Step and encourage local people to grow their own food at home or at the Earth Trust Farm.

Young People

From it's beginnings 30 years ago the Earth Trust was known for its outdoor learning and now attracts more than 3,000 children every year through Outdoor Education. We are developing a Countryside Skills Bursary Scheme to invest in future young talent and encourage the next generation to value and protect the environment.

The 30th Anniversary Appeal will contribute towards providing young people with the training, skills and experience they need to develop a career in the environmental sector.
