Come to the Earth Trust at Little Wittenham for walks of every length and type! Explore Little Wittenham Wood, hike up the hills, wander through the meadows, hunt for the wooden carvings at our Arboretum, or visit Neptune Wood - our community planted woodland of 10,000 oaks.
With so much to explore at Little Wittenham, we have designed a walking map with three walking routes for you to enjoy. Between them, these walks cover all of the main places at Little Wittenham, and give you a choice of walk length too!
Route 1
For unbeatable views of the south Oxfordshire countryside, this short 30 minute route takes you on a circular route from the Earth Trust Centre to Round Hill - see red kites doing their thing, and hear the fabulous skylark song.
Route 2
This circular route leaves from the Earth Trust Centre, and takes in our recreated wildflower meadows at church meadow, before heading into Little Wittenham Wood. Allow approximately an hour and a half for this route.
Route 3
This three hour walk starts from our Neptune Wood car park, and starts by skirting the edge of paradise Wood, beofre heading through the Arboretum, through the Earth Trust Centre, up Round Hill, down through Church Meadow, and back to Neptune Wood.
Our walking leaflet is available to pick up from various points around the site, but why not download it here so you can plan your day in advance!
Little Wittenham Nature Reserve Self Guided Walk
Allow 2-3 hours for this walk. Some stretches are a little steep and, in wet weather, may get quite muddy underfoot. This self guided walk mixes stunning panoramic views though our woodland and restored wildflower meadows. Pick up a leaflet from various points around the site or download below:
