National Recycling Week

Newly planted trees near ClumpsIn 2011 National Recycling Week ran from the 7th-13th November. We have been celebrating by asking you to tell us about your recycling experiences, thoughts and top tips. Now in its 16th year, this annual event focuses on engaging people in learning about the benefits of recycling and green living, increasing the number of businesses and workplaces who recycle, and promoting community recycling initiatives. National Recycling Week provides us all with the opportunity to evaluate and improve our daily habits and reduce the amount of waste we produce.

Did you know: Every tonne of paper recycled saves 17 trees

When it comes to recycling, we can all do our bit to help. Changing our daily habits can make a huge difference, especially when you consider that 50% of your average bin contents could be composted, and recycling one aluminium can will save enough energy to power a TV for three hours!

Did you know: This Christmas, around 83 square kilometres of wrapping paper will end up in UK rubbish bins

Don’t leave it for someone else to worry about. For tips on sustainable living and recycling, go to the Green Living page. At the Earth Trust we have some exciting ideas for green gifts that reduce carbon footprint. Remember, every household counts!
