Our flagship site, the Wittenham Clumps Nature Reserve, is internationally recognised for its significance to wildlife, and locally recognised for its significance to people. Yet although it receives around 150,000 visits a year, only 18% of visitors walk in the nearby Little Wittenham Wood due to poor access.

We need to raise the final £5,000 needed to restore the steps and extend the pathway in Little Wittenham Wood to enable people to enjoy and learn about the woodland, ponds and wildlife

£10 could build 2 metres of pathway to guide people along the walking route
£20 could restore 1 step to enable everyone to visit and enjoy the woodland
£50 could provide enough materials for 10 volunteers to take part in the restoration
£100 could pay for a class to visit and take part in woodland learning activities

The woodland surrounding the Clumps is a fantastic and well-established habitat, teeming with wildlife and natural history; the perfect place for people to get close to nature without disturbing it. However, many people are simply unable to access this amazing place due to the dilapidated state of the existing steps, especially in the winter months when muddy, slippery conditions can lead to the pathway becoming increasingly eroded and impassable.
This year with your help, we want to change this.

With your support, we can ensure that this beautiful area of woodland remains accessible throughout the year for countless more people to enjoy. Once the 140 steps and 104 metres of pathway are restored, visitors of all ages will be able to benefit from the woods. We will be able to introduce free learning activities including tracking and ID events, bushcraft, and guided tours to provide opportunities for people to experience and discover this incredible piece of our natural heritage.

Without your vital support, none of this will be possible. Every £1 you give will enable us to unlock a further £2 of a lottery grant.

You can donate online via Charity Choice, by calling us on 01865 709426, or by sending a cheque to Earth Trust, Little Wittenham, Oxfordshire, OX14 4QZ.

Thank you
