Lambing

Lambing Weekends

It may only be the start of the year but we're already thinking about spring... Our Lambing Weekends are our busiest events of the year! We welcome up to 2,000 visitors a day to see the lambs and other animals on the Earth Trust Farm. These events simply would not be possible without the help of a small army of volunteers! We need help in a variety of different areas from selling tickets and welcoming visitors, helping with children's games and craft activities, helping serve food in our Poem Tree Cafe and guides to help visitors around the site. We always do our best to match volunteers up with tasks that they are happy to do and all volunteers are well supported by members of staff on the day.

This year's Lambing Weekends are 17th-18th and 24th-25th March and we'd be delighted if you can spare a few hours, a whole day (9am-5pm) or maybe even a couple of days, whatever works for you. This is a great opportunity to be part of a friendly and enthusiastic team. These events are great fun and volunteering is a great way to support the work of Earth Trust. We'll provide lunch and plenty of tea and coffee, and all volunteers are supported by a member of staff throughout the day. Register your interest today!

Volunteer Conservation Group Youth Leader

At present we run a number of conservation work parties on select weekend days. Any young people (aged 14-16yrs) that wish to attend, commonly those working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award, currently need to bring a parent/guardian with them as we do not have the staff capacity to take responsibility for the young person’s welfare. This tends to put a lot of young people off as they are keen to come along independently.

We would love to take on a Volunteer Conservation Group Youth Leader (or Leaders) to be that responsible person keeping an eye out for any young people that come along to the work parties. With you on board, this would mean we could welcome more young people to our work parties and they can experience all the fun and benefits of getting stuck in with nature!

'Wood' you like to help us? Volunteer carpenter required!

Across the Earth Trust Farm we have 35 pedestrian gates, 75 vehicle gates, 16 benches and 22 information boards, as well as bird hides, boardwalks and countless other wooden structures. With over 150,000 visits to the site every year, they are well used! We’re looking for someone who’d be able to help us with carrying out ongoing repairs. Someone with woodworking skills and experience would be fantastic as well as a more general practical skills and a 'can do' attitude. We can provide space in our workshop, tools, any PPE needed and lots of cups of tea! The work would make a huge difference to the Trust and the visitors to our site. If you’re interested please get in touch.
