Olympic Rowing Champion Zac Purchase visits Earth Trust

Local Olympic medalist Zac Purchase took the Earth Trust's 30th Anniversary challenge to find 'The Bench with Legs' today, Wednesday 10th October.

Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter won a silver medal in the dramatic lightweight double sculls final at London 2012, adding to their gold medal from Beijing in 2008. After the excitement of the Olympics, Zac is taking some time out and came and explored the Earth Trust.

Zac Purchase, Olympic Champion, said "One of the great privileges of being a rower is that I am able to spend time outdoors in our wonderful countryside, whether it is training or competing on the river or winding down afterwards by walking my dog. I am delighted to support the Earth Trust, I live locally to several of the special places they manage and appreciate all their work to look after them for everyone to enjoy."

Jayne Manley, Chief Executive of the Earth Trust, said "The Earth Trust is very grateful to Zac for his support. We want to encourage people to get outdoors and explore Oxfordshire's amazing countryside and stunning green spaces on our doorsteps, we just need to find the time to enjoy them! During our 30th anniversary we want to invest in young people and our future young talent. Zac and Great Britain's Olympians have proved a real inspiration for us all to get out and discover what nature has to offer: whether you're a cross country runner or part time jogger; power walker or relaxed ambler!"
