Neptune Wood car park closing for repairs

Earth Trust’s Neptune Wood car park, near Long Wittenham, will be closed from Monday 31st July for approximately two weeks for resurfacing.

Neptune Wood and its adjacent meadow are popular with locals, particularly dog walkers. Very little work has been carried out on the car park since its construction in 2005 and it has become degraded and full of potholes. Late last year, thanks to a public vote in local supermarkets, Earth Trust was awarded £10,000 for Neptune Wood through the Tesco Bags of Help scheme, which is distributing funds raised by the 5p plastic bag charge.

The first phase of the project is to carry out the much needed repairs to the car park. It requires complete resurfacing and so the car park will be closed from Monday 31st July for approximately two weeks. The material being used to resurface the car park is coming from the recently demolished building at Thrupp Lake!

Neptune Wood will still be accessible via the footpaths from Long Wittenham, Little Wittenham and the Earth Trust Centre. If you intend to visit during this time, please do not park in the laybys on Little Wittenham Road as this could obstruct traffic. We apologise for any inconvenience.
